Girl From Ipanema

This is my cover of the Astrud Gilberto tune, Girl from Ipanema. It is a request from a friend of ours, Karen Butler, and recorded under pain of death at the hand of my wife, Sue (if I failed to deliver) Haha... NOTE: If you listened to this link before 1/5 at 5:05, you listened to the wrong version, because I accidentally uploaded an earlier draft. If you would like to download, click HERE and then right-click (or Command-Click for single click Macs) and choose "save link as," or "save file as," or whatever.

Intonation is off a bit in parts, and some day I'll fix that. Until then, Merry Christmas 2009, Karen.

Guitars, percussion arrangement, vocals - yours truly. Classic melody and lyrics - the incomparable Astrud Gilberto.

Call Out My Name

This is a song I wrote for a spiritual song contest. It is deliberately free of any particular dogma (as I am not religious) and places the Divine from the viewpoint of connecting with us whenever we feel joy or make a heartfelt connection or sing from the heart. The "Call out my name..." is a metaphor for making connection with the Divine.

Guitar, drum arrangement, vocals, music, lyrics - yours truly.

I'd Love Ya Anyway

This song is about loving someone and appreciating them for who they are, even if they don't agree with your every thought and decision. Hahaha... A light-hearted ballad with a serious note. This song placed 5th in the "Love Song Can" of the Broadjam Six Pack competition...out of thousands of love songs.

Wim Koopman and awesome keyboard/sax player from the Netherlands played Rhodes Piano. All else is yours truly.

You Took Too Long to Break My Heart

This one was the first time I consciously tried to write a song with a hook (usually I really don't care and just write what I want), about a fictitious situation (yet inspired by a friend's experiences). Feedback so far suggests that I succeeded on the "hook" part.

When I Was King

This one was written based on a reading I was once given on a past life. For the purposes of the song, I relate the story as a dream sequence. There are two links. One is my version, and one is a cover by the talented Lenny Lee, who plays bass on my songs Secrets, and I Want to Hold On To You, and here of course.

Composition, Guitars, Vocals, Percussion, Arrangement, Mix: Mark Petruzzi (Mark Petruzzi Version). Bass: Lenny Lee.

Lenny Lee Version: Vocals by Lenny Lee; Song arrangement by Lenny Lee w/guitar and percussion stems from Mark Petruzzi and bass and additional percussion accents by Lenny Lee.
