This page holds technical tests and equipment comparisons. They are informal, but often of interest to other producers, engineers and artists that I interact with around the net.

This is a real loose (meaning my playing's awful) guitar sketch to test a K-2 /Peluso CEMC-6 combo through the API Preamps and API Converters (API A2D, 2:1 tap engaged) panning around and varying the stereo field. Except for the guitar playing, I like what I hear.) No EQ, Compression, or other FX.

Back when I purchased a BOSS MIcro BR portable studio as a sketchpad for my songwriting. The thing offered a pretty amazing feature set in a very small package. Thirty minutes out of the box, I sat on the sofa in my living room, D-35 in hands, and laid down two tracks, then imported them into my computer, and mixed them down in Samplitude Pro v9.02. This is the result. Apologies for the background noise...but it was winter here, and didn't even shut off the humidifier to record this. LOL

This is a test of the Presonus ADL600 against the John Hardy M-1. No FX used. A matched pair of RODE NT5s were used. The clip has three parts: part I is the ADL-600; part II is the John Hardy M-1 2-channel; Part III is was recorded at the same time as part II, but was run out of the RME Fireface 800, and through an RNC1773 compressor, then back into the host application. This clip is a 320kbps stream, but you may download the file at my SoundClick site, or right-click here and choose "save link as".
